It doesn't get any easier than 1 ingredient slime!

1 Ingredient Slime #1: Oobleck

Oobleck is the first slime recipe I learned how to make as a kid, and still one of my favorites!

All you need to make Oobleck is cornstarch and water!

We use a ratio of 2 parts cornstarch to 1 part water, but you may want to play around with your Oobleck a bit until you achieve just the right consistency that you prefer.

This classic one ingredient slime is the basis for many of our edible slime recipes, like our edible pudding slime (which went crazy viral last year).

1 Ingredient Slime #2: Jello Play

Jello slime was the very first edible slime recipe that we created together as a family. At the time, slime was beginning to explode in popularity, but most were made with glue and borax.

I wanted to create a taste-safe, non-toxic slime without glue or borax so my two year old could play too. I headed over to our kitchen pantry, grabbed a few simple food ingredients, and Jello slime was born!

Lo and behold, a couple months ago I saw that JELL-O created their own edible slime mix. They sent us some to play with: JELL-O Play Unicorn Slime (strawberry flavor) and JELL-O Play Monster Slime (lime flavor).

All you have to do is mix three scoops of the JELL-O Play mix with one scoop of water and you've got an easy 1 ingredient slime! I think it is almost exactly like our original Jello slime that we made ourselves a couple years ago. Perhaps they got some inspiration from all of us slime bloggers out here, even if uncredited.

You're welcome JELL-O 😉

1 Ingredient Slime #3: Zimpli Slime Play

Zimpli Kids makes a powder called Slime Play that transforms into a squishy goo just by adding water. Slime Baff and Geli Baff videos have gotten billions of views on YouTube, so we were curious to see what all the fuss was about.

We tried their Unicorn Slime Play mix and I have to say that this is the goopiest and stretchiest of our 1 ingredient slime recipes. If you like squishy, jiggly, wiggly, more traditional slime, then this is just the thing for you!

It smells super fruity, is an amazingly vibrant color, and even came with a couple toy unicorns, since it is "unicorn" slime.

A couple pieces of advice for making this one ingredient slime:

  • Play with Slime Baff or Geli Baff in a large bowl, or even the bathtub (if you use their Geli Baff powder). It make a bunch of slime and it is pretty messy.
  • This slime is NOT edible.
  • Of all of our 1 ingredient slime recipes, Unicorn Slime Play was the hardest to wash off our hands. It's super sticky! But it will wash off with a little time.

1 Ingredient Slime #4: Fiber Slime

Fiber slime has a super jiggly texture like Zimpli Slime Play, except that fiber slime is actually taste-safe! This is a fun alternative to glue based slimes.

We used this simple 1 ingredient slime recipe as the base for our Edible Conversation Heart Slime for Valentine's Day. So much fun!

You can use orange Metamucil as your fiber, or plain fiber — just make sure that whichever fiber you choose is made from Psyllium Husk.
